It's easy these days to get on with life, in doing so we seem to have lost the time we had to be a community and to help one another. So that is why I decided to open 'The Point'
But it will be much more than that, it will act as a food bank for those in need with a drop in service for local residents to get the help and advice required to deal with issues. With no judgements made. We will also have a Job Club and a series of training programmes for local residents to attend.
One of the biggest questions have been why is it a "Pay What You Can Afford" scheme, that too has a simple answer ... I want a place that is accessible to all, no matter what income they're on. Every time someone donates to the cause, it means we can buy the produce to feed the community. It's as simple as that.
The Point Community Kitchen is part of the Thornaby Community Partnership and fingers crossed it becomes part of the community.
