There is less than 40 hours to go before the polls open on the EU Referendum and to say its been long is an understatement. Working 80 hours per week then campaigning on top has been a battle like no other, yet I am still in campaign mode.
This morning I attended a breakfast debate hosted by Andy Preston, who came runner up in the Middlesbrough Mayoral Race in 2015 and the Labour MEP for the North East Jude Kirton Darling.
It was clear from the outset that Teesside and the North East will be hit hardest if we chose to leave the European Union and that as a region, we could not afford to be set further back than we already are. Teesside benefits from being in the EU and the prospect of handing over the reigns to the Conservatives is giving me a migraine like no other.
Me personally, I am not really bothered about immigration and actually welcome migrants to the area, who bring a wealth of culture and art with them. My main priority has been the economy and finding out where the investment would come from should we leave the EU.
Blimey its been hard to argue the benefits we get, especially when every debate goes in to overdrive and loses track of its original purpose. Often leading to immigration and how the EU is failing the homeless (Not true of course)
Teesside since 2014 has seen £183m from the EU being invested into the area, on the otherside the Conservatives have offered us £350m over a 30 year period. Thats a big drop in investment if you ask me.
To protect Teesside jobs and to safeguard vital sectors for the future we must vote to remain within the European Union.
