I am voting to remain in the EU because not only is it the right thing to do, our area benefits massively from funds allocated to helping Teesside thrive and prosper. In 2014 a deal worth £187m was signed to build on the work that had begun in 2008 by the Tees Valley Unlimited (the local enterprise partnership) which is creating thousands of jobs and hundreds of new enterprises that is helping to boost the £10bn Teesside Economy.
I am voting to remain because our area benefits from cultural and social action that has seen Teesside grow to be a leader for changing landscapes and a majority of people I have spoken to, believe in mixed society bringing a wealth of culture and values to our community. So much so that Teesside will be fighting to be crowned City of Culture in 2025. This brings with it wealth, status and if crowned, tourism arts and culture will pick up and be placed on the worlds stage. Look at what it has done with Liverpool.
I am voting to remain because the future of young people like myself. I often hear about those who voted back in 1975 and got the nation and our area where it is today. But the future generations needs to know that there is a confidence in trading, investment and skills, I believe if we leave the EU this will harm our economic output and the vital investment in key sectors on Teesside will be hit massively causing a conveyor belt of uncertainty for the region.
I am voting to remain because I can not support and allow a government to rule us single handed to put the put the future of areas such as ours at risk, we have seen what they are capable of, closure of SSI, Cuts to disability benefits, bedroom tax, introduction of fracking - these are just a few of what has hit our region by our government. From the government who, with more funds will invest in key areas ... apparently. Even the Leave Campaigners agree that the going will be tough for a short period should we leave, just like when Osborne said for a few years it would be painful with his cuts, 6 years later we are still being put under the knife.
The choice is clear, trust a machine that invests in our area or put your support in a back of a beer mat campaign who want to believe what they say will happen, even with no firm footing.
